The club

The ASUB Orientation (Sports Association of the University of Brussels) was founded in 1966 and is one of the twenty clubs affiliated with the Belgian Association of Orienteering Sports (ABSO). The club is also a part of the Regional Federation of Orienteering Sports (FRSO), which brings together about ten clubs from the Wallonia-Brussels community.

We participate in events listed in the calendar that runs from January 1st to December 31st and organize around ten of them annually. These events typically take place on Sundays and cover a variety of activities, primarily orienteering and RandOrientation (orienteering walks), and more sporadically, mountain bike orienteering, orienteering raids, and orienteering tracks.

Our activities

Each year, the club offers various specific activities:

  • From April to September, initiations and technical training suitable for all levels are organized on Friday evenings (departure between 6 and 7 pm), in the Sonian Forest and in certain Brussels and Brabant parks. Each time, classic and technical courses, designed for both experienced orienteers and beginners, are offered over distances ranging from 2.5 to 7 kilometers.
  • From October to February, it's the Winter Challenge. Similar to the Summer Challenge, the goal is to unwind on Friday evenings or Saturday mornings in a relaxed atmosphere while practicing your favorite sport!
  • Technical workshops in Belgium and abroad are organized twice a year and are open to all members. Exercises adapted to each individual's level are offered. Likewise, two workshops per year are specifically organized for young people aged 8 to 25.
  • During the summer period, the club's annual trip takes place abroad during a multi-day international competition (5 days in France, Scotland 6-days, 6 days in Italy-Switzerland, 5 days in Sweden, ...).
  • To keep you informed about all our club activities, ASUB News is sent every two months to all our members. This club journal contains all information about our activities, reports from our meetings,...
  • Recurring competitions are organized by the club each year, in addition to occasional competitions at the regional and national levels.
