
Walking
Walking is a natural mode of locomotion. It consists of moving along by setting each leg down alternately, in a standing position, while always having at least one point of support in contact with the ground, otherwise it is considered to be running. Walking, as a leisure activity, such as a simple walk or hike, can be practised as a sport, with the performance measured according to the time taken or distance travelled, such as “race walking” or "power walking", or "endurance walking".
