A number of avenues are being explored, including networking the various establishments to improve management cost efficiency and accessibility for all Brussels residents. There are institutional, technical and financial obstacles that operators and managers are facing.

Secondly, extending the opening hours of certain swimming pools and opening swimming pools located in schools to the public would make it possible to increase the supply at a lower cost.

Finally, the longer-term objective is to support the creation of new pools. Public-private partnerships are envisaged, freeing the public authorities from the financial burden that swimming pools entail. These new projects will require advanced architectural and technical design to reduce operating costs.
